Pelican Cove Resort and Marina Reviews and Testimonials:
“Stay here for casual Keys vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013
This was my second visit here, and I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants a low key, casual, relaxing vacation in the Keys. Rooms vary with kitchen amenities so I knew to reserve room with full kitchen. My parents had the attached regular room that included a fridge. Coffee makers included and front office always has complimentary coffee and straightforward breakfast pastries. My father loved the convenience and I loved making coffee in the room. While the resort is a bit tired around the edges it offers all the conveniences you want on vacation. Just don’t expect fancy. We loved the private balcony that comes with each room. We enjoyed many a meal and a drink sitting on the deck enjoying the ocean view. Islamorada has good restaurants easy driving distance away, but there are all the basics you need in walking distance. The Food Mart has beverages and food items, Shula Burger has its entire menu to go, and Abel’s has breakfast sandwiches that are worth the short stroll in the morning. The beach is well maintained and better than many beaches you’ll find in Keys resorts, because if you want a beach vacation then the Keys may not be the best choice outside of the beautiful state parks. I went swimming every day. Many other guests skipped the swimming but enjoyed the beach, the nearby boat and jet ski rentals, and the short walk to Theatre of the Sea. I look forward to going back with family for sun, beach, swimming, and Abel’s breakfasts. Oh, and Abel’s sells fishing gear too, so you can go fishing from the beach!
“Wow, reviews don’t match the place.”

I needed 2 nights away from South Beach Spring Breakers and we found a great spot. Room, simple, great view and a really good queen mattress. Got 10% off for finding it online, spent less here the I could find at any other spot and considering it was spring break I wasn’t expecting a discount. Dakota was a great bartender, and the pool was heated, the view amazing, and if you wants glitz and glamour, I suggest elsewhere. Some of these reviews should be held suspect. Beach in the keys? Ummm, coral is not a beach and that is why beach goers should stay out of the Keys, No breakfast? There is a kitchen in your room and Islamorada is for fisherman, their wives and romantic couple get-a-ways. There was danishes and coffee in the office and we did partake. The docks and boat ramp looked good, we had furniture on our balcony and it was clean. Anyway, glad you all gave bad reviews and left a spot ope for us. Thank you. BTW the bar had no music and I’m sure some would complain about that also. I appreciated being able to hear the birds, the water, and just soak in the Keys. I am going back, hope not to see any of you grumpy britches there!
